Through my interactions with Malvin, he has demonstrated a deep understanding regarding investments. The exchange we had was pleasant and informative about the various investment options that were available and he has clarified my initial doubts about investing. He uses easy to understand analogies in explaining how the different investment options work as well as making it relavent to my purposes. Tenacity and focus are the traits that immediately come to mind when I hear the name Malvin. I have known Malvin since our days working on research projects together at NTU. He would tirelessly strive to convey innovative ideas using any means necessary, whether through physical prototyping or visual presentations. I have never seen him display a giving up attitude; he would persist until his fellow students could understand the concepts.

I am delighted to see that Malvin has carried these unique qualities into his dream career in the financial industry. Despite having only basic knowledge of SGX and stocks/bonds, I struggled to connect the dots and create a clear and concise mental map. Malvin comes across as the nicest gentleman, when we finally met in person during Module 2 of the Advanced Certificate in Learning and Performance (ACLP). We were on virtual class prior to that. I had the pleasure to pair up with him to review and document each other’s learning progress for the course. In one of the assessment requirements, Malvin had to provide an action plan on how he will use the resources around him to grow in the profession of Training & Adult Educator. As his assessor, what struck me was the way his action plan was presented. Rather than a conventional fishbone timeline, he used a hand drawn brush-stroked arrow to run across the fill in box. To me, that symbolises his commitment to actions, aka his ‘just-do-it’ attitude, regardless of what lies ahead of him.

He takes great initiative in class, always rising to the occasion during group challenges/ activities. I admired his perseverance in ACLP, amidst the heavy demands of his professional work and a young family.
